What Smart Hands means in a Swiss room
A cleared person in the cage who follows your method of procedure — not a helpdesk and not a project manager.
“Smart Hands” and “remote hands” are used interchangeably in colo. In practice, remote hands is the light version: a loop, a photograph, a reseat. Smart Hands usually means a technician who can follow a longer MOP — rack a server, dress a cross-connect, swap a FRU — while your NOC stays on the bridge.
What belongs on the ticket
- Facility name and cage or suite
- Access list and ID type
- Exact rack unit, serial, and PDU if it matters
- Who is on the bridge and in which language
- What “done” looks like (photo, link up, courier collected)
Switzerland-specific bits
Badge desks in Zurich and Geneva will not invent your visitor. Language at reception is often German or French even when the NOC is English.
